Quinnipiac University is continuing to expand with the addition of 60 new full-time positions in the College of Arts and Sciences.
"This is a big deal because it's such an enormous number," said Hans Bergmann, the dean of the college of arts and sciences.
The college will add 32 new full-time faculty members in the next year with more positions coming in the year following.
"The increase will be more than 30 percent of what we have now," Bergmann said.
Bergmann said he's argued for quite some time to add professionals with different disciplines to each department.
"I'm glad the president and vice president have graciously accepted my arguments and are devoting more resources to the College of Arts and Sciences," Bergmann said.
The increased class sizes were not the primary reason for the addition, but to enrich the curriculum by adding faculty with different scholarly backgrounds.
"An example is anthropology. Now we have a cultural anthropologist, but we want to add a biological anthropologist," Bergmann said.
