Vanderbilt University names Dawn Turton assistant provost for faculty

Dawn Turton, executive director of the Vanderbilt International Office since 2007, has been named assistant provost for faculty. Beginning Dec. 1, she will manage the university’s five-year interim review by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and will work with schools to facilitate the recognition of Vanderbilt’s faculty through awards and memberships in prestigious societies.
Turton received her B.A. from the University of Birmingham in England. After graduation, she spent several years teaching English overseas in Greece, South Korea and Poland. She received a master’s degree in linguistics from Ohio University in 1997 and a Ph.D. in education from the University of Southern California in 2001.
