Seven new faculty members named at Western New England College

Western New England College President Dr. Anthony S. Caprio recently announced the appointments of seven new members of the faculty at the College's School of Arts and Sciences.
Dr. Hasan T. Arslan of Wilbraham was named Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. Arslan has taught at the University of New Haven College of Criminal Justice and the Sam Houston State University Criminal Justice Center. He has worked with the Institute for the Study of Violent Groups since 2002, leading research on organized crime, terrorism, and transnational crime. Arslan holds a Ph.D. from Sam Houston State University and a J.D. from Marmara University Law School in Istanbul, Turkey.
Dr. Laura L. Hansen of Hatfield was named Assistant Professor of Sociology. Hansen most recently served as an assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. Her research focuses on large-scale organizations and criminology, and has written about gangs and white-collar crime. Hansen earned her Ph.D., M.A., and B.S. degrees in Sociology from the University of California, Riverside.
Dr. Anna Klimes of South Hadley was named Assistant Professor of Biology. Klimes holds a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Western Ontario and a B.Sc. in Biology/Plant Biology from the University of British Columbia. She has worked professionally as a clean energy consultant with A.R. Sandri, Inc. in Greenfield and as a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
