The controversial reign of Debra Gore-Mann as USF athletic director is coming to an end after four years.
The school announced she has resigned, effective next Friday, "to pursue other opportunities."
In an interview, Gore-Mann said she was not pressured to leave. "I felt I had accomplished everything I had set out to do," she said. "There are other things I'd like to do. I don't want to jinx them by saying what they are."
Charles Cross, USF's vice president of business and finance, will operate the department until an interim director is named. He said he is putting together a committee to conduct a nationwide search for Gore-Mann's successor.
