Dr. Bonny Ball Copenhaver, a veteran community college educator and advocate, has been named provost and vice president for student affairs at Motlow College, according to Dr. MaryLou Apple, college president. The appointment became effective last month.
"We are pleased to welcome Dr. Copenhaver into the Motlow College community as the new provost," Apple said. "Bonny comes with a strong background in higher education, especially in the community college system having worked at three community colleges before coming to Motlow.
"As provost, she will lead both the academic and student affairs units. Having the dual background as both a faculty member and administrator, she is well-equipped to help Motlow transition into the new roles assigned to the community college under the Complete College Act established by the state."
"It is my honor to accept the provost and vice president for student affairs position at Motlow College, and I look forward to being a part of this dynamic institution," Copenhaver said. "Motlow has a long-standing reputation of being an exceptional institution that leads its two-year peer institutions in many areas. With the support of the college community, I know Motlow will position itself even greater as we move into the future."
Copenhaver comes to Motlow College from Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin where she had served as dean of humanities since 2005. As dean, she lead division programs, including English, communication, foreign language, philosophy, art, music, theatre, ESOL, and developmental reading and writing.
