Heidi A. McCormick has been named director of alumni relations and the Wooster Fund at The College of Wooster, effective Sept. 1.
A 1986 graduate of the college, she currently serves as director of alumni relations at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
McCormick will manage and direct Wooster’s comprehensive alumni relations program, as well as the annual fund.
Her responsibilities include strategic coordination of alumni relations programs with development, communication, and marketing efforts; leadership of on-campus and off-campus alumni programs; strategic development of the college’s volunteer base; and development and implementation of annual fund solicitation strategies and operating plans for alumni, parents and friends, including direct mail, telephone, and web-based initiatives.
“I am delighted that Heidi’s experience and skills will be used to the benefit of Wooster’s alumni,” said Sara L. Patton, the college’s vice president for development. “Her broad knowledge of alumni relations and higher education administration, coupled with her engaging personal qualities and demonstrated commitment to Wooster, made her the clear first choice of the search committee.”
"To serve the college in this role is a great honor and I am thrilled to be asked to support and promote the mission of The College of Wooster,” McCormick said. “I was impressed by the dedication of the staff and the commitment of the college’s many volunteers. The college and city of Wooster had a great impact on me as student, so I look forward to working with alumni, faculty, students, staff, and community members to ensure that the Wooster experience remains strong and vibrant."
McCormick joined Case Western Reserve University in 1997 as assistant director of the career center, was promoted to associate director in 2001, and served as interim director for a year, before being named director of alumni relations in 2006. She has more than 20 years of higher education experience spanning alumni relations, career services, and student activities at institutions including Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio; the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo.; and Randolph-Macon Woman’s College (now Randolph College) in Lynchburg, Va.
McCormick holds a bachelor’s degree in urban studies from The College of Wooster and a master’s degree in college student personnel from Bowling Green State University.
