Michael Pardales named dean of education at Canisius College

Scott A. Chadwick, PhD, vice president for academic affairs at Canisius College, announces the appointment of Michael J. Pardales, PhD, as dean of the School of Education and Human Services, following a national search. Pardales replaces Margaret C. McCarthy, PhD, who stepped down from the position to return to the faculty of the college’s Department of Graduate Education and Leadership. Pardales will assume the position of dean on July 1, 2010.
Previously, Pardales was associate professor and chair of the Department of Education, School of Education and Human Services, at the University of Michigan-Flint. He also served as director of Graduate Education Programs from 2008-2009 and assistant chair of the Department of Education in 2006.
Pardales served on several committees at Michigan-Flint including the General Education Steering Committee, the Student Services Advisory Committee and the Blue Ribbon Commission on Academic Affairs. He served on the Strategic Planning Committee, Curriculum Committee and Academic Standards Committee for the School of Education and Human Services. Pardales also served as chair of the Policy and Assessment Committee and Accreditation Committee for the Education Department.
Pardales has authored nearly two dozen journal articles and research papers.
