William Mullaney named president of Corning Community Collge
The Regional Board of Trustees at SUNY Corning Community College is pleased to welcome Dr. William Mullaney as the next president of the College. Mullaney has more than 20 years of experience serving in leadership capacities in academia.
Mullaney will begin work as the College’s 7th president on July 1, 2019, succeeding Dr. Katherine P. Douglas, who will retire on June 30, 2019, after serving the institution for eight years, and following a distinguished career in higher education spanning more than 4 decades.
“Dr. Mullaney brings a wealth of experience to the College and will be a strong partner with the community,” said SUNY Corning Community College RBOT Board Chair Carl H. Blowers. “He has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the community college vision, illustrated his innovative spirit and commitment to meeting workforce needs, and he has a history of serving as a passionate advocate and champion for student success. We look forward to a smooth transition from the current presidency -- with Dr. Kate Douglas at the helm -- and send best wishes as she begins a new chapter. The College is grateful for her leadership and contemporary thinking that has been the foundation for the great strides made during her tenure.”
“Dr. Mullaney has a keen sense of the academic programs that we can advance to help more students gain access to higher education and succeed,” said SUNY Board Chairman H. Carl McCall. “I congratulate Dr. Mullaney on being named the new president of Corning Community College, where he will continue to demonstrate that learning transforms lives.”
“Dr. Mullaney is a champion of higher education, having held critical administrative and faculty roles,” said SUNY Chancellor Kristina M. Johnson. “His past work has involved creating partnerships with local high schools, developing new academic programs, and supporting adjunct faculty, all experiences that will provide him with a strong foundation for taking over as president of Corning Community College.”
