The Institution

The Los Rios Community College District is a two-year public college district serving the greater Sacramento region. Our district includes American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake and Sacramento City colleges; major centers in Placerville, Davis, West Sacramento, Elk Grove, Natomas and Rancho Cordova; and special services for business and industry.

 

Our colleges offer transfer education – students complete freshman and sophomore years and transfer to a four-year college or university – and AA/AS degrees and certificates in over 70 career fields. The District’s 2,400 square mile service area includes Sacramento and El Dorado counties and parts of Yolo, Placer, and Solano counties. Approximately 75,000 plus students are enrolled in our four colleges and outreach centers.

 

The District office houses a number of district-wide services. These include the Chancellor’s office, Board Room, Legal Services, Business Services, Human Resources, Institutional Research, Resource Development and Information Technology. Other district-wide services which can be found at various locations around the community including the District Police Department, Facilities Management Department, and the Workforce and Economic Development Center. Each department strives for the highest quality in all programs, services, and activities for our communities and staff.

 

Position Summary

Under general supervision of the assigned administrator, design, construct, and maintain District and college websites. [For a detailed job description for this Los Rios Classified Employees Association (White Collar) posting Job Descriptions click here].

 

NOTE: Temporary classified positions are limited to 110 work days per fiscal year, per board regulations.

 

Assignment Responsibilities

● Researches, writes, and, edits content information on District and college internet and intranet sites in a variety of formats, ensuring consistency with District standards and industry best practices.

● Ensures that websites are well designed, responsive, and properly maintained.

● Identifies ways to improve usability of websites.

● Provides programming, design support and, database integration for the web-based content management system and similar web applications through the use of relevant scripting and programming languages.

● Designs, constructs programs, and, implements web page templates.

● Designs, produce, modify, and evaluate multimedia, web-based presentations, and other media applications to include audio, video, graphic, web publishing, digital photography, imagery, web design and programming.

● Serves as a resource for faculty and staff.

● Develops and present workshops and tutorials on the use of the web-based content management systems.

● Oversees the work of temporary employees.

● Performs related duties as required.

Special Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience using programming languages common in web page development and content editing. Experience with web design and publication and application of computer-based multimedia for instructional or training purposes, including experience in using courseware, multimedia authoring systems, development and production software and equipment, digital imaging, audio, and video.

 

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in instructional design, educational technology, instructional communications, computer information science, media communication or related fields, or an Associates degree in computer science or related discipline plus two additional years of qualifying

 

Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles.

 

(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: 12 units are equal to six months of education; 24 units are equal to one year of education.)

- Within 60 days of the time of hire, employees are required to submit official transcripts, if required in the minimum qualification for the position. 

- Graduate advising documents and grade reports will not be accepted as official transcripts. 

- It is the responsibility of Los Rios Community College District employees to also provide official transcripts, if required in the minimum qualification for the position.
