What We Are Looking For:
NCU is currently seeking a dynamic individual to lead our Academic Affairs as the VP, Academic Affairs.
The Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA) is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and reports to the Provost/Chief Academic Officer (CAO). The VPAA assists in defining and shaping strategic academic priorities and directions for the University and supporting key academic initiatives, including the development, review, and implementation of academic policies and procedures. As a member of the academic leadership team, the VPAA represents the Provost/CAO on various institutional committees and is responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of the University's institutional assessment plan with focus on the assessment of student learning. The VPAA works closely with the Provost/CAO and other Senior Leadership on strategic planning and assists with strategically building and implementing new initiatives that support academic excellence, and in particular faculty excellence and curriculum quality. In addition, the VPAA is responsible for timely completion of all accreditation reviews, and works with compliance to ensure concerns are academically informed. The VPAA also has responsibility for those offices that support student success: the Office of Assessment, Office of Student Records, the Center for Academic Excellence, and the Library.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees development and implementation of academic policies and procedures as related to the student experience at Northcentral University
Adheres to the academic strategic plan action items and leads execution on selected action plan items
Represents Provost on various institutional committees
Participates in all Senior Leadership Team meetings
Oversees and evaluates the effectiveness of the following areas: the Office of Assessment, Office of Student Records, the Center for Academic Excellence, and the Library
Liaise with the HLC, state licensure bodies, and professional accreditation, as appropriate
Coordinates with the Office of Compliance Management to ensure student and faculty concerns and grievances are academically informed and appropriately adjudicated
Supervises the Director of Assessment and Institutional Research to develop and execute the institution’s assessment plan in collaboration with institutional leadership
Supervises the Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence to ensure execution of faculty training and accountability measures as envisioned by the Provost and other academic leaders
Supervises the Director of Instructional Design to support curricular quality initiatives as directed by the Provost, and supported by academic leadership
Supervises the Director of Library
Supervisees the Director for the Office of Student Records to ensure all policies are followed
Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Provost
This position supervises the following Directors: Assessment and Institutional Research, Faculty Excellence, Student Records, Instructional Design, and the Library.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proven track record of developing and implementing strategic plans and achieving measurable results
Expertise in the objective analysis of complex information or problems to derive logical conclusions and provide a sound basis for establishing priorities and selecting appropriate courses of action
Experience with the use of best practices, innovations, and research in providing outcome-based programs
Demonstrated ability to foster and sustain innovation, collaboration, shared decision-making and strategic partnerships in a complex work environment
Strong skills in written and verbal communication skills in writing reports and correspondence
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues, learners, accrediting and licensing agencies and the general public
Demonstrated evidence of strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize
Skill in operating equipment, such as personal computer, fax, copier, phone system
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Doctoral degree in Business, Education, Behavioral or Health Sciences from a regionally accredited institution
Minimum of 10 years related experience
Prior managerial, leadership and supervisory experience
Experience in working with others in a collaborative, dynamic, for profit academic environment
3-5 years of experience working in a for-profit university
Experience as an academic administrator in a for-profit university
Experience in higher education student affairs
