Henderson State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The university seeks a dynamic, innovative, and visionary individual to lead its academic units as the institution prepares to celebrate its 125th year of service.
Henderson is a comprehensive institution of higher education serving the State of Arkansas, portions of surrounding states, and particularly the South Arkansas Region. The university offers 50 baccalaureate through Educational Specialist degree programs. The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer of the university. Working collaboratively with the President, the Provost is responsible for leadership of the academic programs and supporting areas. Those areas reporting to the Provost include Teachers College, Ellis College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business, Graduate School, the library, Multimedia Learning Center, assessment, and the Advising Center. Additionally, the Provost is a member of the President’s Executive Council and thereby participates in decision-making for the entire university.

Additionally, the successful candidate must be able to articulate an understanding and appreciation of Henderson’s unique mission as a public liberal arts university.
Henderson is located in Arkadelphia, a charming, family-centered community of 11,000 residents situated one hour south of Little Rock on Interstate 30. Nestled in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, the community is home to two universities, a strong public

school system, a thriving medical community, two recreational rivers, the iconic Lake DeGray, and is approximately 30 miles from historic Hot Springs National Park, one of the great American treasures.
