The Wolschendorf laboratory at UAB is pleased to offer a NIH funded Postdoc position in the fields of antimicrobial drug discovery and development. The project is staged in a multidisciplinary research environment allowing us to utilize a combination of approaches in molecular biology, immunology, biochemistry, microbiology, genetics and chem/bio-informatics. Our research goals are to identify and characterize novel scaffolds, elucidate their metal-related mode of antimicrobial action, and demonstrate efficacy in appropriate cell-culture based in vitro infection models. Our prime target organisms are Staphylococcus aureus and Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
