CLASS DESCRIPTION:

Seeking an individual able to teach a variety of Mechanical Engineering-related courses. Due to shifting enrollment patterns and new academic programs and initiatives, candidates with a breadth of knowledge and ability to teach both technology and traditional engineering are preferred. Full load of instruction in Fall and Spring semesters, college and community service, student advising, Departmental support and ongoing professional development are required. The position may involve teaching classes at multiple campuses scheduled during days, evenings, or weekends. Preferred candidates are enthusiastic about content and pedagogy, use best teaching practices, and are committed to hands-on student learning. Best consideration will be given to applicants who present evidence of excellence in teaching, experience at the Community College level, and ability to teach a variety of Engineering courses. Position located on Catonsville, Dundalk and Essex campuses. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field with at least five years of Engineering-related experience required. Two years of full-time, or four years of part-time, Engineering teaching experience at the high school level or above preferred. Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of Engineering-related courses and operate related laboratory and shop equipment. Valid driver's license in good standing with less than five (5) violation points as the position will require travel to all campus locations.

CLASS SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES:



  1. Facilitate and support student learning by developing and providing clear and effective instruction using traditional and technology-based instruction.


  2. Meet all classes as assigned during instructional periods.


  3. Communicate effectively with students by disseminating academic information including syllabi and academic policies and by responding to e-mails and phone calls from students in a timely manner.


  4. Engineering-related student advising.


  5. Required office hours per College policy.


  6. Curricula and Program development (including on-line).


  7. Provide effective and appropriate assessment with prompt qualitative and quantitative feedback.


  8. Keep instructional materials and student work organized and accessible.


  9. Maintain Learning Management System (e.g. Blackboard) site, providing students access to syllabi, grades and other supplemental course material.


  10. Support students and other college units, and comply with relevant state and federal laws


  11. Collaborate with colleagues in ongoing curricular development including content update, curricular alignment, consistent assessment practices and record keeping.


  12. Collaborate with staff by completing and submitting reports and documentation in a timely manner.


  13. Attend and participate in committee, departmental, College and School meetings.


  14. Provide College and Community Service through collegial and individual initiatives.


  15. Maintain and develop professional expertise through ongoing professional development or scholarship.
