MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER
This position requires strong fundraising and relationship building skills, as well as exceptional organizational and analytical skills. This professional will seek gift commitments of $5,000 to $25,000 and steward in-kind donations such as art. He or she will enhance relationships with existing members and donors with a goal of increasing giving levels, while simultaneously seeking prospects new to the institution. The Major Gifts Officer will be accountable for meeting fundraising and activity goals and for helping identify individuals for the Corcoran’s major donor program.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identifies, cultivates, and solicits gifts of $5,000 to $25,000 from individuals and family foundations.
Stewards relationships with current and recent individual donors including management of all solicitations, donations, and acknowledgements
Maintains prospect and donor information in Raiser's Edge
Responsible for donor recognition including annual replacement of donor plaques, web site postings, and other opportunities
Assists with any in-kind donations including art and books
Develop strategy for advancing current Chairman's Guild members to higher levels of giving
Plans and executes appropriate cultivation/stewardship activities to foster donor relationships with Corcoran leadership and staff.
Attends member event and receptions; engages with steering committees
Works with Development Committee members to implement peer-to-peer solicitation strategies for cultivating and stewarding donors.
Works collaboratively with the prospect research manager to identify giving capacity within current database
Drafts written proposals as needed.
Other duties as assigned
College degree and a minimum of 3 years of development experience, including experience soliciting donations
Ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting, while also being highly autonomous.
Interest in the arts and education.
Exceptional communications skills, including proposal writing and public presentation, and strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a variety of people.
Strong computer skills a must; previous work with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
Willingness and ability to travel regionally and to work some evenings and weekends.
