The lab assistant will assist the instructor with setting up, monitoring and assessing, and cleaning up after all lab activities with students.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Must be familiar with the lab activities, be able to respond to student questions regarding activity. Must be familiar with use of pharmacy lab tools and equipment. Will assist instructor in setting up lab stations prior to class and directing/helping students clean up, put lab supplies away at conclusion of class. Will assist instructor
in verifying weights, measurements, overall progress during activities, assessment of student’s work. Assist with lab assessment on specific tasks.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued
Must be a nationally certified pharmacy technician licensed in Utah with at least one year of experience.
Some experience in aseptic compounding, skill with operation of a compounding implements and equipment. Able to accurately measure calibration marks on syringes. Experience with workflow prescription processing software program, exposure to adjudication processes.
1 year of experience working in pharmacy environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Computer input, familiarity with pharmaceutical inventory products, ability to perform basic pharmaceutical calculations. Demonstrate strong customer relations skills. Ability to problem-solve and assist students by modeling professional behaviors.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
Non-Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Flexibility in adjusting availability based on when classes are scheduled.
Evidence of current Utah pharmacy technician license.
