The Los Rios Community College District is the second largest, two-year public college district in California, serving approximately 75,000 students in the greater Sacramento region. Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Program Coordinator and the Area Dean, assists licensed adjunct faculty and staff with instructional duties by working with MLT students individually or in groups in the improvement of academic knowledge and technical skills; performs related work as required by the MLT Program Coordinator and other program staff.

Assignment Responsibilities

• Assists licensed adjunct faculty and staff by participating in laboratory activities and monitoring Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) students as required.

• Aids instructors in pre-lab setup and laboratory practicum.

• Holds tutoring and review sessions for students as required.

• Under faculty supervision assists in record keeping, grading assignments, and the logging of student hours.

• Assists with Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program promotion and other general program logistics as defined by the MLT Program Coordinator.

• Assists in maintenance of laboratory equipment as required, maintains laboratory safety standards, and prepared classroom demonstrations according to instructor guidelines.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE: One year of working experience within a medical laboratory setting, or similar. Experience tutoring and/or mentoring students is desired, but not required.

EDUCATION: Be a high school graduate, or have achieved a passing score on the general educational development (GED) test or documentation of equivalent education pursuant to Section 1031.4{c)(6)(B) of the California Business & Professions Code. Completion of two years of college Life Science or Health Care courses relevant to MLT training desired, but not required.

Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: 15 units are equal to six months of education; 30 units are equal to one year of education.)

    - Graduate advising documents and grade reports will not be accepted as unofficial transcripts.
