Under minimal supervision, provide complete administrative support to the President of the College and the Board of Trustees. Work involves substantial close interaction with College administration, trustees, commissioner’s office and staff, Governor’s office and staff, legislators, other institutional presidents and administration, as well as students, faculty and staff and the community at large.
Experience as Administrative Assistant to high level executive preferred.
Experience in higher education setting preferred.
•Bachelor’s degree in related field
AND
•Four years of increasingly responsible full-time administrative assistant/secretarial experience.
•Additional appropriate work experience may be substituted on a two-for-one year basis of education.
•Additional related education may be substituted on a two-for-one year basis for work experience.
•Superior knowledge of business English, math, writing, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
•Knowledge of specific office policies, procedures and methods
•Knowledge of college policies, procedures and operations preferred
•Knowledge of Open and Public Meetings Act requirements
•Excellent typing and note-taking skills
•Experience with/working knowledge of PCs and Apple computers necessary, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and cloud application programs
•Ability to communicate well with a variety of people within and outside the college using tact, discretion and diplomacy
•Ability to take and prepare quality finished minutes
•Ability to compose and write reports and correspondence
•Ability to conduct research and analysis
•Ability to give and follow written and oral instructions effectively under stress
•Ability to perform responsibilities without supervision
•Ability to supervise and coordinate activities with others
•Ability to work with and safeguard highly sensitive and confidential information
•Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain
good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities and special needs.
