The Office International Programs furthers MSU’s strategic goals and objectives by creating and supporting global engagement opportunities for students, faculty and staff. The office provides leadership and direction pertaining to MSU’s internationalization strategy, and coordinates programs and services designed to bring the world to Montana and share Montana with the world.


 


Duties and Responsibilities



  • Increase International student enrollment and retention

  • Manage all processes related to international student visas

  • Oversee fiscal resources for both ISS teams.

  • Lead and manage the Recruitment and student services teams.

  • Serve as part of the VP/Deans senior leadership team



 


Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills



  • Master’s degree in a relevant field of international education or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in international and global engagement.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of international higher education experience, specifically working to increase international student admissions, coordinating study abroad programs and managing immigration compliance.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a leadership position with programmatic and fiscal personnel oversight and management

  • Demonstrated commitment to enhancing the quality and diversity of International admissions, student and scholar experiences.

  • Commitment to increasing International student participation on MSU campus and in the local community, particularly among underrepresented groups

  • Broad knowledge of higher education internationalization and best practices.

  • Ability to work with Faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students, university administrators, international student alumni, and the general public.

  • This position requires the ability to become a Designated School Official (DSO)/ Alternative Responsible Officer (ARO).

  • Demonstrated experience using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, email and internet, Microsoft Office software preferred.

  • Experience providing customer service to a diverse constituency, in person and virtually.

  • Experience in budget development and management.



 


Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills



  • Terminal degree appropriate to the candidate’s field (Ph.D., Ed.D., M.D., D.O., D.V.M., J.D., etc.) preferred

  • Have an understanding of budget planning and management in a complex, decentralized research university.

    #Demonstrated success in international student recruitment and retention

  • Experience in consensus-building, problem-solving, entrepreneurial thinking, and program building skills

  • Exercise good judgement and sound decision-making skills in working with a wide range of individuals

  • Demonstrate superb organizational skills in prioritizing, processing, and tracking detailed information with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail.



 


The Successful Candidate Will



  • Have an understanding of planning and management in a complex, decentralized research university.

  • Experience in consensus-building, problem-solving, entrepreneurial thinking, and program building skills

  • Exercise good judgement and sound decision-making skills in working with a wide range of individuals

  • Demonstrate suburb organizational skills in prioritizing, processing, and tracking detailed information with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail.

  • Experience in budget development and execution
