The West Virginia University Foundation is seeking an experienced fundraiser to serve as Director of Development at the WVU Alumni Association. The Director will be responsible for generating major and principal level gifts from individuals, corporations, and foundations to benefit the work of the Association. Reporting to the Associate Vice President University Development and working directly with the Alumni Association President, the Director of Development will be responsible for the creation and implementation of a comprehensive development plan to identify, cultivate and solicit donors at the $50,000 threshold and above.  Additional responsibilities include development and implementation of annual giving and stewardship plans.

 A bachelor’s degree and six years of experience of direct and progressively responsible experience in major gift fundraising is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in higher education, with experience at a comprehensive research university, and/or familiarity with planned giving/financial planning concepts. Strong written, verbal, organization, and interpersonal skills are required. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and possess the ability to work as a team member within a complex organization requiring collaboration, teamwork, and communication. The position requires frequent regional and some national overnight travel.
