Hillsboro is located seven miles east of Pacific's historic campus in Forest Grove and 18 miles west of Portland.
Pacific University, founded by transplanted New England Congregationalists in 1849, is the first chartered institution of higher learning in the Pacific Northwest. Originally a traditional undergraduate, residential, liberal arts school it now also offers graduate programs in four of its five colleges: Health Professions, Arts and Sciences, Optometry and Education. Currently, the University's enrollment totals approximately 3600 students.
The Dean has overall responsibility for the leadership and management of the School. S/he is its chief academic and budget officer and its representative on CHP's Deans and Directors Council and other University committees and groups. The Dean also serves as a visible, engaged representative of the School and the University to the external community. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of pharmacy education issues and trends and a working knowledge of the role of pharmacy education relative to the other health professions represented in CHP. The role requires a record of successful administrative leadership, resource development, and financial management experience. S/he will value student-centered, interprofessional and inquiry-based learning models. The Dean will value and support the faculty's research and scholarly endeavors and provide leadership to the clinical aspects of the curriculum. The Dean will be committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity on campus. The position reports to Pacific's Vice Provost and Executive Dean for the College of Health Professions, Ann Barr-Gillespie.
