General Statement of Job
The Chief Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Officer (CEDIO) provides leadership for the development and implementation of proactive initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in support of the College's strategic plan. This Officer will collaborate with the college community to create a learning and working environment where all individuals have an opportunity to succeed.
Description of Duties and Tasks
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provides leadership and articulates a clear link between equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives and the impact to the College's overall performance.
Chairs a College-wide Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Council to plan multicultural events and make recommendations for College actions that help build a welcoming and inclusive culture at the College for all students, faculty, and staff.
Formulates internal communication strategies on the College's equity and inclusion objectives and programs.
Identifies and plans professional development programs to raise awareness and develop best practices to cultivate a culture of civility, respect, and ethical behavior.
Collaborates with the appropriate offices to coordinate professional development programs about equity and inclusion. Coordinates with the Teaching and Learning Excellence Division on faculty programs and the Human Resources Staff Professional Development office on staff programs.
Collaborates with Human Resources on the development of promotional materials for use in the recruitment and hiring process.
Collaborates with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to gather, review and assess data on equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Oversees periodic assessment of the campus culture .and uses results to design programs and interventions to improve the culture of equity and inclusion and enhance student success and achievement by developing and facilitating a research-informed plan to increase student success.
Collaborates with College stakeholders to assess potential barriers to equity and inclusion and develop strategies to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.
Collaborates with Student Affairs to build student-led equity initiatives, to recruit and engage diverse students, to enrich the campus climate, and to support student success.
Serves as a liaison and resource within the organization to ensure the coordination and implementation of equity and inclusion strategies throughout the organization.
Must possess required knowledge and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion best practices in terms of achieving student success.
Extensive knowledge in the field of equity, diversity, and inclusion and its application to the educational environment.
Understanding the mission, philosophy, and general academic program requirements of community colleges.
Awareness of and sensitivity to issues relating to a diverse student body.
Program development and management principles.
Must possess required skills and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Proven ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds; disabilities; and sexual orientation of students, faculty, and staff.
Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolutions skills and demonstrated ability to promote collaboration among departments.
Ability to analyze and make sound recommendations on complex issues, including identification of alternative solutions and projecting consequences of different plans of action.
Demonstrated excellence in communication (written and verbal) and the ability to communicate at all levels of an organization.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of student information and work-related information.
Reliability to maintain an established and flexible work schedule.
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and deliver work products.
Effective presentation skills to groups of various sizes.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in all situations.
Use a variety of spreadsheet, word processing, database, and presentation software.
Required Work Experience
Five years related work experience, including management, in a higher education environment.
Master's degree in Social Justice, Post-Secondary Education, Sociology, Social Anthropology, Human Resource Management, Psychology, Counseling, Organizational Development or a related field.
Valid Texas Driver's License and reliable transportation for travel in Central Texas.
Other Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of equity and inclusion programs, training, and initiatives.
Work is performed in a standard office or similar environment.
Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
Provide resources for safe operation of units. Create and support workplace safety.

ACC Benefits Overview
Full-time Faculty and Staffing Table employees who work in full-time and/or part-time positions at the College are eligible for ACC medical benefits effective the first of the month after their first 60 days of employment. Benefits include medical, dental, life insurance, short and long term disability, retirement plans and AD&D.
ACC does not participate in Social Security. ACC participates in the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) and the Optional Retirement Program (ORP-Faculty Only). Part-time and Hourly employees participate in the ACC Money Purchase Plan (ACCMPP) as a retirement program required by Federal law.
