Postdoctoral Associate

Job Description:
A Post-Doctoral position is available immediately to study Streptococcus mutans, protein translocation pathways particularly as related to membrane biogenesis. Specifically our lab studies the YidC1 and YidC2 membrane protein chaperone insertases and their cooperative interactions with the signal recognition particle pathway. Applicants should have a strong background in molecular genetics and regulation, as well
as protein structure/function. Experience with standard cloning and recombinant DNA methodologies, protein production, column chromatography and protein purification is required. Familiarity with bacterial membrane preparation and proteomic and lipidomic analyses is desirable, as is RNA preparation and RNAseq analysis.
Expected Salary:

Minimum starting salary $54,835

Minimum Requirements:

A Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field is required. 

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates having experience with liposomes and in vitro transcription/translation assays, as well as
techniques to evaluate protein-protein and protein-lipid interactions, and macromolecular
assembly will also be given preference. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have a solid record of scientific productivity and publication, excellent oral and written communication skills in English, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
