As one of the fastest-growing academic health centers in the nation, the Texas A&M University Health Science Center encompasses five colleges and numerous centers and institutes working together to improve health through transformative education, innovative research and team-based health care delivery.
A part of the Texas A&M University Health Science Center, Texas A&M School of Dentistry in Dallas was founded in 1905 and is a nationally recognized center for oral health sciences education, research, specialized patient care and continuing dental education.
What we want
The School of Dentistry is looking for an individual to serve as a member of the department team. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The successful applicant will bring a good level of laboratory experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting researchers in a detail oriented environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Required Education:
- Appropriate PhD
Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of experimental procedures, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, chemistry and histology.
- Ability to write, present and report research findings in English.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Education:
- PhD & DDS
Preferred Experience:
- Dental related experience
- Extensive histological work at both light and electronic microscopy
- Experience in using molecular and cellular approaches to conduct basic biomedical research.
- Experience in using transgenic mice to study the molecular mechanisms underlying tooth development.
Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Job Responsibilities
General laboratory duties:
make solutions, clean glassware, autoclave, order supplies,
maintain laboratory notebook; conduct data mining;
create, organize and carry out all aspects of an experiment.
Microscopy:
micro-dissection of tooth and bone tissues,
fluorescence;/confocal/electron microscopy,
image analysis/photography,
histological preparation of tissues; radiographs of bone and teeth.
Write reports, presentations & manuscripts
Write research reports, presentations and manuscripts to disseminate research findings in national and international meetings and professional journals.
Supervision
Train graduate students and summer research students.
Other Duties
Performs other duties as assigned.
