Job Summary: This position exists to provide leadership and administrative support for teaching and learning through organization of human, capital and operational resources. This position currently oversees STEM Programs which include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Math, Water Quality Management, Environmental Science, Geology, and Architectural Engineering/Construction Management, Computer Assisted Drafting, and Engineering Graphics.

Description of Position

  • Supervision, Management and Leadership: Provide leadership and supervision for full-time faculty, professional technical, and instructional staff. Evaluate and assign faculty, classified, and professional technical staff in accordance with respective plans. Make informed staffing recommendations to the Vice President of Academic Affairs. Develop divisional and departmental leadership teams. Create, monitor and/or participate in committee work that promotes the goals of the division and instruction. Verify and approve employee contracts including part-time contracts and full-time overloads.
  • Strategic Planning: Formulate and implement strategies for instructional delivery, marketing, technology, educational support, and other initiatives through collaborative efforts with instructional faculty and staff, instructional departments and other campus constituencies.
  • Fiscal Management: Develop and Administer instructional budget in collaboration with the Vice President of Academic Affairs, faculty and staff. Justify and effectively manage all appropriate operating budget categories including acquisitions, maintenance and inventory of capital. Lead, administer and oversee grants.
  • Program Development: Initiate and coordinate instructional teams and external groups to develop and implement programs and curricula.
  • Student Resource: Serve as arbiter for student complaints, consider student requests, work with faculty to address and resolve issues.

Qualifications

Required: Master’s degree in a STEM or Technology-related field. Three years of college­ level leadership, supervisory, fiscal and administrative experience in the previous ten years.

Preferred: Master’s or Doctorate degree in an academic field related to STEM or Technology. Administrative and/or supervisory experience in a community college. Teaching experience at the community college level. Experience with alternative instructional delivery methods. Grant administration. Experience with Academic Affiliations. Experience with Concurrent Enrollment. Experience with Undergraduate Research. Membership in or experience working in diverse communities and supporting the success of students and staff from racial, ethnic, and gender backgrounds that are underrepresented in the College. Experience with grant development and administration.

Required knowledge, skills & abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills. Ability and experience using technological tools to manage work and create reports. Ability to use data to inform decision making. Demonstrated collaborative and team building experience. Ability to interact and communicate effectively in all settings (in-person, remotely, written, and verbal correspondences) with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work from campus.

Starting Salary: Starting salary is determined by education and experience in accordance with our compensation plan.
