Position Summary

Project FIRST will define enhanced training needs of vocational rehabilitation (VR) service providers, by assessing current training efficacy for quality placements of persons with disabilities. Duties of this scholarly position will require an in-depth knowledge of VR research and processes, which may involve organizing and implementing research plans, development of methods of research, testing and data collection, analysis and evaluation, and report writing. The postdoctoral fellow will design, organize and conduct highly specialized and advanced established scientific protocols and procedures, and in some cases design new protocols; summarize findings and publishing results in research journals. Further, the applicant will collect, prepare and analyze research data; keep a detailed record summarizing and recording research data; maintain a computer database of for data; tabulate and display data for presentation in research conferences and for manuscript preparation; oversee media preparation and use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data through pertinent scientific literature searches as needed. Post Doc Fellow will provide additional assistance with ordering and procurement of supplies and equipment for general maintenance of the work environment.

Minimum Position Qualifications

The Postdoctoral Fellow will report to the Project FIRST Program Manager/Associate Director. It will be necessary to coordinate with key faculty who are experts at distance design, distance teaching, curriculum development, computer science and epidemiology, as well as those with experience in face-to-face teaching design and methods. The postdoctoral fellow must be comfortable working with diverse groups, possess literacy to engage special educators, rehabilitation educators, persons of color, those from a diverse age range, national origins, disabilities, genders, and other disenfranchised intersectionality. This candidate is expected to effectively communicate the mission, ethics and goals of both UMID and the Grantor. Compliance with all organizational policies and standards regarding ethical business practices and maintenance confidentiality, regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and local regulations is expected. In addition, the postdoctoral fellow will contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results, as needed, for non-essential functions, as well as performance of other duties, as assigned per professional requirements. The applicant must possess knowledge of VR history and processes, as well as have an understanding of intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD). Candidate must have minimum qualifications of a Ph.D. in Rehabilitation or related area. Significant relevant experience in a research environment is expected. It is a one year assignment that is subject to renewal based on continued funding and job performance appraisal.
