Co-Production and Social Science Postdoctoral Fellow

JOB PURPOSE:
The University of Wyoming’s Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources is searching for a postdoctoral scholar with an interest in assessing the process of co-production, vulnerability and adaptation, and social science related to water. Responsibilities include 1) collaborating with a large interdisciplinary team, 2) building a research program that leads to publications in high quality journals, 3) mentoring MS students with projects related to social science and water and 4) coordinating and collaborating with our project Co-Production Coordinator and other graduate students and post-docs affiliated with the project to support proactive understanding and management of water in the region.

This postdoc will work on an NSF EPSCoR-funded project called WY-ACT (Wyoming Anticipating Climate Transitions) project. This project seeks to help Wyoming stakeholders and communities anticipate and prepare for changing water availability. The 5-year grant will support the creation of integrative models showing the cascading effects of changed water availability through socio-environmental systems with implications for hydrology, ecology, economics, and dependent human communities. Core responsibilities will include

designing metrics to assess the process of co-production in this project, conducting a multi-method vulnerability assessment of stakeholders in the three-basin region in northwest Wyoming, and mentoring affiliated social science graduate students. Salary will be competitive and includes a generous benefits package, and support for travel. The appointment is for two years, renewable for further years subject to satisfactory performance. The position will be supervised by Dr. Corrine Noel Knapp.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This post-doc will be responsible for developing metrics to measure and understand outcomes of co-production, collaborate with the Co-Production Coordinator, conduct the multi-methods vulnerability assessment, develop a strong record of research excellence in the areas listed above, and collaborate with interdisciplinary colleagues and work collaboratively with the PI.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in social science, interdisciplinary science, or closely related field;

Strong qualitative research skills, including interviewing;

Experience with collaborative, co-produced and/or team science;

Ability to write clearly, professionally, and persuasively; and

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience co-producing knowledge with communities and stakeholders;

Experience and/or interest in integrative modeling;

Potential to support project management and the mentoring of graduate students;

Ability to lead aspects of a team-based interdisciplinary project.
