Job Description

The Executive Director will work closely with the Pine Lake Fund board of directors to develop and implement the mission and strategic plan of the organization. The mission of the Pine Lake Fund a 501©3 non-profit organization, is to support the training and placement of individuals with disabilities attending the Michigan Career and Technical Institute. Michigan Career & Technical Institute conducts vocational and technical training programs and provides supportive services needed to prepare Michigan’s citizens with disabilities for competitive employment. Pine Lake Fund has multiple partnerships with Michigan Rehabilitation Services. The ideal candidate will be committed to leading the transformation and growth of the organization and will bring a forward-thinking approach to organizational and program development. The position will actively participate in, and oversee, all Pine Lake Fund (PLF) activities including daily program operations; PLF program development; grant writing, contract/grant management, administration, management, and fiscal management.

Educational/Experience Requirements

Master’s degree preferred and/or significant related experience including, fiscal management, project management, business management, contract/grant oversight, fund development, and personnel. Progressive non- profit leadership experience preferred. Demonstrated success required.

Essential Job Functions

Manage and administer day-to-day operations for 501 ©3 not-for-profit organization. Project development and management; contract/grant administration, including knowledge of individual requirements, and federal and state regulations; and oversight and supervision of organization personnel.

  • Collaborate and partner with MCTI leadership and its parent organization to support their mission and operations as mutually agreed upon. Supervise maintenance of double entry accounting system, managing computer-based accounting system (Quick Books) for multiple fund activities.
  • Supervise acceptable cash handling procedures.
  • Supervise maintenance of all 2 CFR 200 standards for grant management without significant audit exceptions.
  • Supervise accurate preparation and submission all required contract/grant and fiscal related reports on a timely basis.
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks with multiple priorities using appropriate time management.
  • Prepare new contracts/grants and new projects.
  • Work effectively as a team member with board members, other professionals, and supervisors.
  • Achieve organizational goals and meet outcomes that support the training and placement of persons with disabilities into competitive employment.
  • Work independently and handle the pressure of multiple deadlines.
  • Able to graphically layout and design integrated, computerized materials such as brochures, newsletters, annual reports, invitations, marketing materials, etc.
  • Able to handle all administrative and fiscal aspects related to the job such as employee time keeping, audit preparation and accreditation, managing budgets and allowable costs, purchasing, payments, cash flow, electronic transfer requests, assets, and inventory, etc.
  • Able to quickly learn new techniques and concepts related to the job.
  • Creative and flexible in solving problems related to the job.
  • Maintain business and funder relationships.
  • Assist with cultivation and development of PLF Board of Directors.
  • Hire, manage and evaluate staff and contractors, providing supervision, support, and coaching.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor organization’s fund development and diversification plan, including developing and maintaining relationships with funding sources. Provide oversight Including coordination of multiple contract /grant budgets and required reporting.
  • Supervision and knowledge of MSHDA low-income housing operations, requirements, and regulations.
  • Supervise maintenance of computer-based accounting system (Quick Books) for multiple fund activities through the audit process. Knowledge of financial functions, budgeting, forecasting asset management and business insurance.
  • Duties as defined in Pine Lake Fund by-laws.

Reporting relationship

Reports to Chairperson and Pine Lake Fund Board of Directors.
