About the Opportunity
About the Position
This position addresses neurodevelopmental disorders using the zebrafish model, with possible tissue culture assays. Focus on mechanisms underlying genetic disorders, metabolic and environmental contributions. The candidate should be highly motivated and enthusiastic to contribute to groundbreaking research with translational implications.
Candidates will be able to design and interpret rigorous experiments and innovate as needed. Opportunity to assist the supervisor in contributions to publication of results and grants. Assists in maintaining the laboratory and may exercise functional supervision over supporting research staff.
Outstanding opportunity to develop towards an independent research or related position.
Responsibilities/Duties
  • Assist in initiating, executing, and completing research.
  • Prepare and write research papers, presentations, grant proposals.
  • Assist in laboratory management, including fish care and husbandry
  • Train students
  • Potentially teach courses
Qualifications
Ph.D. required. Training in molecular biological and biochemical research methodology and quantitative data analysis are essential. Can enthusiastically undertake substantially full-time research and scholarship. Will work under the supervision of a senior scholar, but independent abilities essential. Some experience with zebrafish, medaka, Xenopus, other aquatic animals, or rodent models very helpful. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are critical, as well as a high-level of attention to detail. Some experience in writing manuscripts and proposals and project management needed. Interest and experience collaborating with researchers from different fields.
