Assistant Professor-in-Residence Pediatric Surgery

Job Description

The Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, is seeking candidates for a full-time junior faculty member.

Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Surgery and eligible for licensure in the State of California. Responsibilities for this position include patient care in inpatient and outpatient settings, teaching of medical students, residents and fellows along with an emphasis on establishing an independent research program.

Appointment in the In-Residence series requires evidence of research productivity or a trajectory to research productivity, scholarship, and an enthusiasm for discovery. The successful candidate will have a MD or MD, PhD and a strong commitment to academic surgery. The Department seeks candidates with
a research background and interest in surgical sciences to build on a growing clinical and interdisciplinary health services research program.

The successful candidate will have a commitment to collaborative and independent research and a commitment to a path to independent extramural funding. Candidates should demonstrate evidence of clinical excellence and documentation of scholarly ability and achievement. The Department provides resources to support the academic endeavor of early career physician scientists. Leadership skills, administrative experience, and teaching experience are a plus. Compensation is commensurate with AAMC standards.
