Job Summary
None of the ambitious strategies we've launched in clinical care, education and research can succeed without our people. To do our best work in support of children's health, we need to support the health and wellbeing of our workforce. The AVP, Chief Wellbeing Officer is accountable for thought leadership, strategic planning, operational excellence, and tactical execution of an integrated, enterprise-wide approach to wellbeing. This newly created role will report to the Chief HR Officer. The successful candidate will collaborate within Human Resources and with clinical, operational, and administrative leaders throughout the enterprise to embed wellbeing into the broader enterprise strategy and culture.
Job Responsibilities
  • Design and implement an integrated and forward-looking strategy to improve wellbeing and mitigate burnout, thereby improving the employee experience.
  • Partner with colleagues to create an environment where the workforce feels welcomed, supported, and valued.
  • Coordinate with HR and others to connect existing wellness and wellbeing programs and resources to the comprehensive, overarching strategy.
  • Leverage continuous improvement strategies to develop and hardwire programs and processes to improve the ease of daily work for the CHOP workforce.
  • Collect and interpret data to monitor progress. Produce and publish key performance indicators report on outcomes, target improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, manage, and motivate a diverse, high performing team. Perform fundamental management duties. Schedule and allocate resources. Prepare annual budgets and monitor expenses. Manage performance and productivity. Participate in process improvement and compliance. Manage third-party partners and vendor relationships.
  • Actively engage in the Human Resources community of practice as a key leader on the HR leadership team. Participate in enterprise and departmental initiatives to support the People Strategic Plan.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least ten (10) years
  • At least five (5) years in progressively responsible management/leadership roles
Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic
Master's Degree
Training and certification in wellbeing preferred

To carry out its mission, it is of critical importance for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to keep our patients, families and workforce safe and healthy and to support the health of our global community. In keeping with this, CHOP has mandated all workforce members on site at any CHOP location for any portion of their time be vaccinated for COVID-19 as a condition of employment. This mandate also applies to workforce members performing work for CHOP at non-CHOP locations. Additionally, all workforce members based in or regularly scheduled to work at any New Jersey location are mandated to be both vaccinated and boosted for COVID-19, with booster timing consistent with applicable guidelines. The CHOP COVID-19 vaccine mandate is in alignment with applicable local, state and federal mandates. CHOP also requires all workforce members who work in patient care buildings or who provide patient care to receive an annual influenza vaccine. Employees may request exemption consideration for CHOP vaccine requirements for valid religious and medical reasons. Please note start dates may be delayed until candidates are fully immunized or valid exemption requests are reviewed. In addition, candidates other than those in positions with regularly scheduled hours in New Jersey, must attest to not using tobacco products.
