PT Instructor, ESYS (Electronic Systems Technology)

Salary: To Be Determined Based on PT Faculty Salary Schedule

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a PT Instructor, (ESYS) Electronic Systems Technology for Chabot College in Hayward, CA.

Applicants will be expected to provide instruction in all ESYS courses: ESYS 50, 51, 54, 55, 57, 63 & 69 as well as our non-credit versions: ESYS 250, 251, 254, 255, 257, 263, 269

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Instructional:

To engage, motivate, encourage, support our ESYS students.

To provide face-to-face and online training sessions that are stimulating, thought provoking, fun and practical.

To build soft-skills of ESYS students in addition to building technical skills.

To relay job/internship opportunities to students as well as assist in resume/interview processes.

1. Administrative:

To maintain adherence to maximum usage of CANVAS for record keeping of grades, attendance, discussions.

To maintain adherence to maximum usage of Discord.com for immediate communications & Discussion Chats.

To respond to all requests from other Admin areas of Chabot College for inquiries and other needs.

To maintain all safety, cleanliness, and upkeep of Lecture/Lab areas used for ESYS.

To participate in Advisory, committee and other meetings relevant to ESYS.

1. Operational:

To maintain Classroom and Labs in good order.

To maintain inventory and stockroom in good order.

To set up equipment as necessary for lab/lecture and return said equipment back to storage after use.

To maintain upkeep and service of ESYS equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any Bachelor’s degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience.

Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Applicants applying under the “Equivalent” provision must provide details that explain at time of application how their academic preparation is the equivalent of the degree listed above.

Desirable Qualifications:

1. Associates of Sciences Degree in Electronics or Electronic Engineering and 4 years of either as teaching assistant or Lab technician working directly with electronics students in ESYS Labs.
2. Direct student interactions in an electronics lab setting. Coaching, guiding, tutoring or other forms of teaching experience.
3. Good time management skills, approachable, coachable, and must be well organized.
