Position Summary:

The Learning Center Tutor will tutor students in Writing, Math, Health Science, Science and/or other subjects. Tutor individually and/or in groups, face-to-face and/or virtually. Tutor in classrooms and/or via Supplemental Instruction face-to-face and/or virtually. Assist students/community members with computer use and/or computer-based tutorials. Document student/community member visits, keep accurate records, and assist with data collection and reporting. Applications are accepted throughout the year. Acceptance into the hiring pool does not constitute an offer an offer of a contract, nor does having worked one semester guarantee that a position will be available the following semester; hiring decisions are made on a semester-by-semester basis, according to the needs of The Learning Center.

Duties:

Participate in orientation, education workshops, and meetings. Participate in the promotion of The Learning Center across campus, and the development and presentation of workshops to students, community members, instructors, and/or staff. Participate in the maintenance and ongoing improvement of The Learning Center and its resources.
The Learning Center Tutor will tutor students in Writing, Math, Health Science, Science and/or other subjects. Tutor individually and/or in groups, face-to-face and/or virtually. Tutor in classrooms and/or via Supplimental Instruction face-to-face and/or virtually. Assist students/community members with computer use and/or computer-based tutorials. Document student/community member visits, keep accurate records, and assist with data collection and reporting.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Demonstrated proficiency in subject area(s). Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Experience working with diverse groups. Knowledge, skills, and/or ability to learn to effectively complete all required position duties, including attending required tutor education workshops and meetings.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:

Bachelor Degree in relevant field or equivalent technical experience is required.

Hourly pay: $17.62 per hour DOE
