As our Director Institutional Giving, you will be responsible for the leadership, implementation and oversight of our well-resourced institutional giving team, primarily focused on fundraising from foundations, corporations, and governmental agencies. You will provide leadership and supervision while cultivating grants and gifts in support of programs on campus, in the community, nationwide and for international programs.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations include the following:

  • Lead the Institutional Giving (IG) team in setting and executing strategy to raise $2.5M, including prospecting, qualifying, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Diversify and grow Perkins’ pipeline of active prospects, closing gifts with new funders every year while maintaining renewals with established relationships. Build new relationships and maintain good working relationships with current and past institutional donors, agencies and organizations.
  • Working closely with the Chief Development & Marketing Officer and program staff, establish annual revenue goals and develop and execute fundraising plans for priority programs. Develop grant proposals and case statements identifying program needs in conjunction with program staff and the president. Establish collaborative, positive, productive relationships with program staff; promote an inclusive culture that encourages ideas and ownership.
  • Develop a corporate strategy with the help of a corporate relations officer, leveraging Perkins’ expertise and thought leadership in the Diversity/Equity/Inclusion space and our global impact on children in 95+ countries. Partner with Perkins’ volunteer manager to develop opportunities for corporate relationships.
  • Analyze and streamline IG operations, proposing and implementing improvements as needed.
  • Manage and develop a creative and innovative IG team.
  • Monitor the timely and accurate completion of proposals and fund agreements; document prospect strategies and contact reports
  • To perform other duties and tasks as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in communications, public relations, business administration or marketing field preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of progressive fundraising development and management experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability in prospect identification, prospect research, cultivation, successful solicitation, and stewardship of foundations and corporations.
  • Evidence of mature judgment and ability to develop entrepreneurial and strategic plans to motivate prospects and donors.
  • A strong leader, ability to build and nurture a growing, innovative team.
  • Motivate, set and attain individual and team goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills required with knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and/or Salesforce Nonprofit, Google suite and Microsoft.
