Position Summary:

The Director provides operational oversight, planning, and design support of the college-wide data and voice network infrastructure. Recommends and implements hardware and software to ensure the IT infrastructure is designed and operating with best practices. The Director will design, implement and maintain solutions to comply with college IT requirements, improve overall IT efficiencies and enhance the employee experience.

Requirements:


Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or in a related field to assigned area or equivalent combination of formal course work and training. Master’s Degree in related technical field preferred.

Experience:

Seven 7+ years of experience in IT network infrastructure. Five (5) years of experience in a supervisory role. Experience must include actual work with designing and implementing enterprise-level network components for LAN/WAN infrastructure and cloud-based system services. Experience with information technology operations and work experience in higher education is desirable.

Knowledge:

Extensive knowledge and experience with network design, maintenance, and support.

Knowledge of enterprise level network and telecommunications infrastructure.

Skills:

  • Supporting complex network infrastructure: TCP/IP protocols, Voice over IP (VOIP), switches, routers, and wireless networks.
  • Enterprise network design and support.
  • Cloud computing and services. (Oracle Cloud, Azure, AWS)
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:


Manages campus-based network technicians in designing, installing, and maintaining voice, video, and data networking technology for SPC’s data center, cloud presence, sites, and campuses.

Advise and collaborate with college leadership regarding business continuity, disaster recovery, and emergency response planning.

Serves as an expert advisor to senior management and project managers in developing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure and provides direction regarding the prioritization of infrastructure investments.

Developing, publishing, and maintaining comprehensive college-wide documentation of voice and network systems.

Work with senior engineering staff, project managers and Purchasing to assist in creating selection criteria for vendor products, tools, and services related to data, voice, and security infrastructure.

Monitor and report on college-wide voice/data network utilization, capacity planning, trend analysis and Network metrics.

Maintains, reviews, and creates appropriate college-wide IT policies, procedures, and guidelines.
