Starting Salary: $100,000 - $115,000

Agape has an open Chief Development Officer position. In partnership with the President/CEO, this position serves as the face and voice of Agape's branding, communication, and fundraising efforts. The Chief Development Officer (CDO) is responsible for fundraising planning and implementation, grants management, and marketing and communication for the organization. The CDO is responsible for managing and providing support for employees within the Development and Marketing and Communications departments and members of the Board of Directors Development Committee, the fundraising task force, and other stakeholders engaged in fundraising for the organization. This role collaborates with the annual fundraising co-chairs and fundraising leadership council to develop, cultivate, and solicit lead donors and major donors.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with board members, the President/CEO, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and members of the fundraising leadership council to create and continuously update a list of qualified prospective donors with a total potential giving of three times the organization's annual fundraising goal.
  • Provide appropriate training for fundraising strategy to employees and board members.
  • With support from the organization's leadership, identify, cultivate and recruit individuals who can provide volunteer fundraising leadership.
  • Cultivate and solicit select prospects, focusing on those with the capacity to give at the highest levels.
  • Collaborate with the President/CEO and key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for the solicitation of lead gifts, including in-kind gifts and resources.
  • Collaborate with the Development Team and key stakeholders to develop, coordinate, and implement fundraising strategies.
  • Manage the strategic fundraising plan, informing the President/CEO and key stakeholders of progress and challenges.
  • Provide updates and reports on fundraising progress to the fundraising task force.
  • Review, coordinate, and approve all cultivation and solicitation strategies before implementation.
  • Develop and maintain recordkeeping and appropriate software systems for tracking gift receipts and acknowledgments, donor participation, and identification and cultivation of donor prospects.
  • Ensure donors receive proper, timely acknowledgment of gifts. Partner with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure gifts are properly coded and reported.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Marketing and Communications to ensure successful development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies that create visibility for Agape and encourage giving at all levels. Develop content for fundraising-related materials such as the case for support and annual appeals.
  • Motivate and empower organizational leadership and staff to support and participate in fundraising efforts.
  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to the Development Team overseeing fundraising, grant writing, and collaboration for special events.
  • Provide overall leadership and guidance to the Marketing & Communications Team overseeing branding, marketing, and communications. Work with the Director of Marketing & Communications to ensure Agape Child & Family Services' strategic plans are communicated internally and externally to employees, donors, board members, partners, vendors, and contractors as appropriate.
  • Will perform all other duties within the general scope of this position, as requested by the President/CEO.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer.
  • Prolonged walking, standing, and climbing stairs while visiting sites and during special events.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at a time.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Social Work or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position with at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in development, sales, or another related field, with at least 5 years of leadership experience. Nonprofit management experience is preferred. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated success leading in a development capacity, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders while building relationships with multiple donor sources. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Demonstrated computer proficiency, including using Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of and experience with various fundraising and donor database systems.

The successful candidate must have excellent organization skills and attention to detail. Must have an automobile available for business use and maintain a current driver's license and current auto insurance with acceptable levels of coverage. Will be required to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends as needed. Candidate must be willing to engage in Agape's Performance Quality and Improvement (also known as Continuous Quality Improvement) standards of quality & excellence.
