Job Description

The Department of Economics, Marketing, and Analytics in the School of Business at Southern Utah University seeks applicants for a faculty position in Business Analytics beginning in the fall of 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position with rank depending on qualifications and experience. Teaching duties include courses in data analytics and related topics as needed. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Teaching load is generally three to four courses per semester. Research requirements entail approximately two peer-reviewed publications every five years. Meaningful service to the department, school, or university is also expected.

Minimum qualifications are a PhD in Business/Data Analytics or a PhD in a related field with extensive experience in business analytics. Applicants with experience in teaching and applying data analytics are preferred. Successful applicants will demonstrate the ability to excel in teaching, conduct quality research, and help build the Business Analytics program. Southern Utah University is a comprehensive, Masters S institution serving about 13,000 students. Business Analytics is housed in the School of Business, which is AACSB accredited and offers a full range of baccalaureate programs, as well as MBA, MAcc, and MSBA degrees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

As an AACSB accredited School of Business, we are looking for applicants who can meet the requirements of a Scholarly Academic. Duties & responsibilities include:

1. Provide quality instruction in the classroom, teaching 3 or 4 courses per semester, depending on qualifications.

2. Meet scholarly engagement requirements. In general, this consists of publishing about 2 peer-reviewed journal articles, on topics related to business or data analytics, every 5 years.

3. Engage with and mentor students in alignment with the mission and vision of the University and School.

4. Provide service to the department, school, or university.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

1. PhD in Business/Data Analytics or a PhD in a related field with extensive experience in business analytics.

2. Ability to provide an excellent educational experience for students.

3. Currently meet requirements to qualify as a Scholarly Academic (new PhD's are automatically qualified; experienced PhD's must have recent, peer-reviewed publications involving business analytics).

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Relevant teaching experience at the university level.

2. Relevant professional experience.

3. Experience engaging with students in co- and extra-curricular activities.

4. Experience with online education.
