The ADA is seeking a Director, Community Engagement and Impact.

This Director of Community Engagement and Impact will support and manage the full life cycle of a variety of prioritized major initiatives including Diabetes and Cardiovascular Initiatives, Eye Health Initiatives, Living with Diabetes Initiatives, and other initiatives as assigned. The Director will focus on the development of consumer content, effective program delivery, program scaling, and management of programs including volunteer recruitment and training, financial viability, stewardship of relationships, and stakeholder engagement. The Director will represent the Association in key stakeholder meetings and will be a communicator on behalf of the Association in multi-organization collaboratives. The Director will report to the Vice President of Health Care Programs in Science & Health Care.

RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on patient pillars of major initiatives.
  • Develop content for grant deliverables and grant proposals.
  • Analyze and architect tools and procedures that support collaboration and initiative effectiveness.
  • Maintain collaborative working relationships with stakeholders - both internal and external.
  • Foster and facilitate successful team development and internal/external stakeholder engagement.
  • Communicate project plans clearly and on a regular basis to effectively drive team performance.
  • Manage and/or support national relationships with key volunteers, expert thought-leaders, and committees.
  • Actively identify and engage with community leaders to communicate ADA programs effectively and to meaningfully partner.
  • Assess, understand, and communicate community needs.
  • Plan, implement, administer, and evaluate outcomes-based initiatives.
  • Document, track, and maintain detailed project/program/initiative records.
  • Responsible for monthly initiative reviews and managing expenses to budget across a portfolio of Initiative programs.
  • Manage funded partnerships and represent the organization with excellence on video calls and at initiative meetings.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years of community health promotion and program management experience.
  • Diabetes health care experience and knowledge is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing key stakeholder relationships.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university in Nursing, Health Education, Youth Development, Public Health, or other related field.
  • Detail oriented in the ability to plan, organize, and implement programs/services.
  • Business acumen for managing community-based programs.
  • Successful track record in volunteer recruitment, development, or management with an emphasis on community organization and program delivery.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship-building effectiveness in one-on-one and group settings across all levels of corporate, medical and community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve desired outcomes while responding to changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based information systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with variable hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Strong desire to support people living with or at-riskk-of diabetes.

Compensation range: $80,000 to $95,000 Max
