We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking, team individual to help us procure materials associated with our building and construction teams. As a member of our team, you'll contribute to APL's success by reviewing requests, engage the requestor with any questions, identify possible alternatives and evaluate possible vendors taking into consideration prices and the availability of the item/service. We are passionate about customer service and with your help, we will remain a valued partner throughout the organization.
As a Building and Construction Commodity Buyer...
- Your primary responsibility will be to review incoming request for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with existing guidance and procedures.
- You will work closely with the requestor ensure you have complete understanding of their request
- You will research, engage and evaluate various vendors to ensure their products meet the requestor's requirements.
- You will obtain quotes from vendors and analyze them against the specifications and availability of the items.
- You will maintain the appropriate documentation to reconcile your credit card statement on a monthly basis.
- You will address non-repetitive, non-routine and emergency requests in a timely manner.
Qualifications
You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have 5+ years ' experience in an administrative role
- Have a common business understand relating to the purchase, pricing, shipment and payment for materials and services
- Willing to work in a team environment, but able to work and learn independently; exercising good judgement and discretion, resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
- Have excellent organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple competing work demands at a high level
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and written.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

- If you have prior experience in the procurement environment.
- If you have prior knowledge of building and construction material.
- If you have prior experience using Maximo
