About the Role:

Represents DMPK and plays a key role in the multidisciplinary discovery and development team to advancement Neurocrine's medicines including small molecules, biologics, peptides, and gene therapies. Works with Neurocrine colleagues to participate in all stages of ADME assessments, from initial compound screening through to IND and NDA regulatory submissions. Working with Research, Bioanalytical and Clinical Pharmacology subject matter experts, provides scientific leadership to ensure that clinical candidates with acceptable drug development characteristics are identified and appropriately characterized. Represents Preclinical Development on Research and Development teams and regularly interfaces with internal and external colleagues to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of ADME findings.

Your Contributions (include, But Are Not Limited To)
  • Represent DMPK functional area on multidisciplinary project teams and provide functional scientific and strategic input

  • Lead and innovate in a multidisciplinary team environment with primary responsibility for DMPK studies to support preclinical and clinical development of Neurocrine Portfolio

  • Design, execute and manage the conduct, interpretation, and reporting of PK, PK-PD and drug metabolism studies

  • Integrate ADME, PK and PK/PD endpoints with discovery biology data to define structure activity- and structure-property-relationships to guide optimization strategies

  • Prepare data summaries and presents results to peers, colleagues, project team and leadership teams

  • Contribute to the nonclinical PK/ADME documents to support clinical development (IND), new drug applications (NDA) and biologics license applications (BLA) and line extensions and interact with regulatory agencies worldwide

  • Possess excellent written and verbal technical communication skills and the demonstrated ability to lead, guide and influence teams in decision making

Requirements
  • PhD in Biochemistry, Drug Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or closely related discipline with 2+ years of experience in the industrial discovery and development of small and large molecular therapeutics; or MS with 5+ years of experience or BS with 10+ years of experience

  • Expertise and working knowledge of pharmacokinetics of small and large molecules, drug metabolism, in vitro enzyme kinetics and LC/MS bioanalytical methodology

  • Evaluate and apply innovative PK and PK/PD approaches to predict human PK, using modeling as a tool to help generate hypotheses, design studies, inform clinical plans, and support registration

  • Ability to balance multiple projects and handle competing responsibilities

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to integrate diverse perspectives, deliver critical messaging, and influence leaders/key partners

  • Collaborative team behaviors and aspiration to build and sustain relationships with R&D customers and the wider scientific community

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $106,400.00-$154,325.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
