Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The CMNS Dean’s Office seeks a highly organized and personable Financial Services Specialist with exceptional attention to detail to join our team. The Financial Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and completing a wide range of business-related tasks, projects, and support for the college.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree is required at the time of the appointment.

Experience:
  • One (1) year of professional budget, finance, or accounting experience.
  • Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
  • Experience working with customers in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with finance or related offices in a university setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Dedication to providing excellent customer service to a diverse population of student, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Possess a strong attention to detail and an ability to execute assignments under tight deadlines while being able to work well under pressure
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision
  • Skilled in understanding, interpreting, and applying university policies and procedures in the areas of finance and/or research administration.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Experience working in higher education, specifically at UMD, strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of university software tools and/or systems such as Kuali Financial System (KFS), Priority BA4, , Concur, Blackbaud, and Kuali Research.
  • Knowledge of State, UMD, and UMCPF financial policies and procedures.

Physical Demands

  • Predominantly sedentary position/work in an office environment requiring the ability to sit for an extended time and operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
  • Ability to review, prepare, and analyze data and figures.
  • Ability to move/transport up to 10 pounds of materials/office equipment.
  • Ability to traverse campus to deliver and pick up materials.
  • Ability to communicate with internal and external contacts and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
