Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
This position will be responsible for all shop equipment, assist with operations, safety training, maintenance, repairs and improvements within the Advance Fabrications Lab. Candidates must possess a high regard for safety and a willingness to maintain and enforce a strong safety culture.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in the following areas of: mechanical systems design; computer aided design; computer aided design; machine tools; plant and shop management.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with a bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience with an associate’s degree.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience without a degree.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of all phases of mechanical development including technical drawing, machining, fitting, joining, finishing, assembling and modifying pieces; and assemblies related to physical science research.
- Ability to read and interpret complex diagrams, manuals, technical drawings, sketches and blueprints. Ability to operate and program computer numeric control (CNC) machining tools.
- Proficiency and experience with Multi-axis programming and machining.
- Knowledge of computer-aided drawing software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, Pro Engineer, etc.)
- Ability to effectively instruct, advise others.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
