Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

This position will be responsible for all shop equipment, assist with operations, safety training, maintenance, repairs and improvements within the Advance Fabrications Lab. Candidates must possess a high regard for safety and a willingness to maintain and enforce a strong safety culture.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in the following areas of: mechanical systems design; computer aided design; computer aided design; machine tools; plant and shop management.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience with an associate’s degree.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience without a degree.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of all phases of mechanical development including technical drawing, machining, fitting, joining, finishing, assembling and modifying pieces; and assemblies related to physical science research. 
  • Ability to read and interpret complex diagrams, manuals, technical drawings, sketches and blueprints. Ability to operate and program computer numeric control (CNC) machining tools.
  • Proficiency and experience with Multi-axis programming and machining. 
  • Knowledge of computer-aided drawing software (AutoCAD, Solid Works, Pro Engineer, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively instruct, advise others. 
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. 
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

  • Heavy work, ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
  • The worker is required to have near visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading.
