By joining our team, you will play an integral role in sharing Poseida's journey with investors and other stakeholders by working cross-functionally with key members within the company to deliver clear and concise information that focuses on what is most important: Poseida's ability to create life-saving cell and gene therapies. You will lead the efforts in ensuring compliance with financial regulatory bodies, including researching and implementing new guidance as regulatory requirements change, determining accounting treatment for new transactions, and appropriately capturing developments from Poseida's continued evolution and growth.


Position Summary:

Poseida is seeking an outstanding candidate to join our Accounting and Finance team. The Director of Financial Reporting leads and owns SEC reporting, technical accounting, equity administration, internal controls and other key financial reporting items. The position requires that the candidate be a hands-on professional with a strong understanding of the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting. A SOX-compliant mindset, strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and desire and ability to identify, recommend and lead improvements is important.


Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • SEC reporting - preparing SEC filings, including Form 10-K's, 10-Q's, as well as other required filings (8-K, S-8, Form 4, Proxy)
  • Preparing appropriate support for all filings and coordinating with external auditors
  • Accounting/disclosure guidance adoptions - responsible for monitoring and implementing
    new accounting guidance and disclosure rules from relevant authoritative bodies (SEC, FASB).
  • Update XBRL for financial statements to the appropriate US GAAP taxonomy
  • Technical accounting research and memos - responsible for all accounting research, memo preparation and supporting schedules for implementing new accounting guidance, evaluating potential transactions (collaborations, financing, etc.)
  • Equity administration - manage day-to-day administration of stock award activity and related stock-based compensation financial reporting
  • SOX/Internal Controls - Oversee the SOX/internal control environment and its transition to operating in a 404b environment, including coordinating with external auditors, and with control owners of each functional area.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the financial reporting staff to ensure the team is well-trained, their performance objectives are clearly outlined, and that workflows are optimized for efficient and accurate processing.
  • Review journal entries for various items as they relate to stock-based compensation, guidance implementation and other various areas, as appropriate
  • Prepare and update process narratives for areas of ownership
  • General accounting support- ability to perform ad hoc projects as needed to support the accounting department
Requirements

Requirements, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting required with 12+ plus years within finance or accounting. 5+ plus years of public accounting experience with SEC clients or 5 years of experience in a financial reporting role for a publicly traded company is required (a combination of experience and education may be considered)
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and ability to independently research
  • Strong understanding of SOX/internal controls
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to meet monthly and quarterly reporting deadlines
  • Active Disclosure experience required
  • Great Plains and Equity Edge experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced team environment


Director, Financial Reporting Pay Rate: $164,000 to $205,000 annually

The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type, and length of experience with the industry, education, geographic location, etc.
