POSITION TITLE: Research Assistant III

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant III to join our dynamic research team. The ideal candidate will lead the daily operations of the lab, manage their own research project, and perform a variety of advanced laboratory techniques. The position offers significant opportunities for professional development and requires a candidate with extensive laboratory experience and a strong background in relevant scientific disciplines.

The Droujinine Lab has developed novel methods to identify and characterize novel secreted factors that coordinate organ functions in homeostasis and disease in mammalian systems. Specifically, we use proteomics and in vivo functional genomic screens to uncover the secreted proteins and cellular circuitry involved in homeostasis, obesity, and aging. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Oversee the day-to-day activities in the lab, ensuring all protocols and safety regulations are followed.
  • Maintain lab equipment, order supplies, and manage inventory.
  • Coordinate with other lab members to ensure efficient workflow and collaboration.
  • Lead and manage individual research projects from conception to completion.
  • Design and conduct experiments, analyze data, and interpret results.
  • Keep detailed records of all experiments and procedures.
  • Perform mammalian cell culture, ensuring sterility and proper growth conditions.
  • Conduct in vivo mouse experiments, including handling, dosing, and sample collection.
  • Utilize quantitative TMT mass spectrometry proteomics and metabolomics for data acquisition.
  • Perform western blot analysis, pulldowns, DNA cloning, and immunostaining.
  • Use confocal microscopy for imaging and high-throughput screens for data collection.
  • Conduct bioinformatic data analysis using appropriate software and tools.
  • Stay updated with the latest scientific literature and advancements in the field.
  • May attend seminars, workshops, and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Mentor junior lab members and provide training on various laboratory techniques.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill and abilities have been attained.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in biology, chemical biology, biological engineering, or related discipline
  • Candidates possessing a master's degree, 3+ years' experience required.
  • Experience in biologic techniques outlined in the position summary highly preferred but not required.
  • High motivation and independence in reading scientific literature and performing experiments.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position works in a laboratory or vivarium environment. Further details of the physical requirements of established essential functions for this position will be addressed/discussed during the interview process.

COMPENSATION: The expected hiring range for this position is $68,000 - $81,600 per year, commensurate with experience. Consideration will be given to experience that exceeds the listed requirements.
