Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Reporting to the Program Manager for Recruitment and Outreach, the Program Coordinator for Recruitment and Outreach will lead the Clark Ambassador Program and support all recruitment
and outreach activities for the college.

The program coordinator will meet with prospective students and groups, develop marketing materials, and gather and analyze recruitment and event data. They will lead the Clark Ambassador Program, approximately 50current student workers who meet with prospective students and represent the Clark School at recruitment events. The program coordinator will be responsible for maintaining the functionality of the program, ensuring that Ambassadors are having a valuable professional development experience while meeting the college’s recruitment needs. The program coordinator will participate in the review of admission and scholarship applications and play a leadership role in planning Clark School events for Maryland Day. This position may require occasional weekend and evening work and travel.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Experience:
  • At least 2-4 years of related experience working with students in a role related to undergraduate admissions, student recruitment, and/or student programming.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups of students, administration, faculty, staff, and other constituents and colleagues.
  • Experience in managing and tracking data.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Background in undergraduate recruitment, program administration, scholarship administration, and/or student programming.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with K-12 and community college partners.
  • Prior participation on admission or scholarship selection committees.
  • Experience with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of university admissions or similar practices and procedures.
  • Experience with website editing or website design.
  • Knowledge of the University of Maryland, College Park.

Physical Demands

  • Able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Capable of exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. A cart will be provided for moving materials and supplies.
  • Substantial repetitive movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers from computer entry work.
  • Good visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
  • Must be able to maneuver around the campus to attend meetings and pick up time- sensitive or valuable items from other departments.
  • Must be able to travel locally to conduct recruitment visits to Maryland community colleges and high schools.
  • Able to communicate with faculty, staff, and students who have inquiries. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Able to speak in front of large groups.
