Supporting Notre Dame’s Office of Federal & Washington Relations, the Senior Director for Federal Relations represents the University in our nation’s capital and leads relationship-building and strategic engagements with senior level policy officials, decision-makers and thought leaders in Washington, DC. In addition, the Senior Director assists faculty members and researchers in identifying and acquiring federal research funding as well as informing federal policy and regulations. The Senior Director also provides senior level, subject matter expertise in higher education policy and regulatory matters, working with University leadership to advance Notre Dame’s mission and strategic priorities.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and execution of priority University events with DC stakeholders
- Serve as a senior representative and liaison between the University and federal government entities, supporting strategic relationships with all relevant aspects of the federal government, as well as key stakeholders and thought leaders in Washington, DC
- Provide senior level, strategic counsel and analysis on federal policy and regulatory matters relevant to the University
- Represent the University with appropriate trade associations, industry groups and other higher education forums on issues of importance to Notre Dame
- Support the University’s strategic communications efforts in Washington, to include advising on content, messages, and objectives

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 7+ years of relevant work experience
- Must be a seasoned, team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must have the ability to work effectively and comfortably with senior internal and external constituents, maintaining the confidentiality of very sensitive information.
