Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
A Graduate Assistantship with the Adele H. Stamp Student Union – Center for Campus Life offers an in-depth educational and professional position for a student working simultaneously toward a graduate degree.
The Stamp Gallery Graduate Assistant will work with the Manager to plan, develop, curate exhibits and manage an undergraduate staff. Responsibilities will include exhibition design and installation, coordination with artists, supervision of student staff, event planning, marketing and public relations. The Graduate Assistant will also work with the Manager to write grants, perform research and develop protocol for the Gallery. The Graduate Assistant will gain experience in exhibition management, program coordination, marketing, public relations, grant writing, and finance management. An additional responsibility of the Graduate Assistant is providing support in managing the Stamp’s Contemporary Art Purchasing Program collection, including installation/deinstallation, database management, and working with conservation experts. Stamp Student Union- Center for Campus Life at Student Affairs functions; will collaborate on campus-wide programs sponsored by the office; will prepare semester reports for staff on assigned projects; and will post and maintain a minimum of 20 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors Degree required from an accredited four-year institution.
- Admission to and full-time enrollment in a UMD graduate program is required.
Experience:
- Prior experience in the arts, either installation, curatorial, or work in a gallery.
Preferences:
Preferences:
- Experience in Gallery/Museum work, public relations, marketing and arts management are highly desired.
- Experience with student activities or programming, financial management, and non-profit development are helpful but not necessary.
Additional Information:
Stipend plus ten credits of tuition remission per fall and spring semester, as well as health benefits. 9.5 month position. This job will require some evening and weekend hours as dictated by Gallery programming and campus events.
