If so, we're looking for someone like you to join the Signal Exploitation Group and help lead a talented team of scientists, engineers, analysts and software developers!

 

We are seeking a technically oriented and team-building section supervisor to lead our Antenna and EM Modeling section. Our group culture is naturally collaborative with highly skilled staff who enjoy working together to tackle tough problems. You will be leading a creative and dedicated team of engineers working with state-of-the-art electromagnetic modeling tools for antenna and RF propagation assessment related to sponsor mission sets. Your team provides unparalleled customer engagement and support with a proven track record of developing new ideas then transitioning them to high value operations and generating new programs.

 

As a QPS Section Supervisor, you will....

  • Actively engage and partner with section staff to assess their strengths and their limitations. Work with staff to understand their career objectives and seek to match staff development with project objectives. Mentor and coach staff members. Provide and guide staff development opportunities, including participation in the annual performance coaching process.
  • Significantly contribute to the evolution and implementation of the QPS group vision, strategy, and execution as the activities of your section staff provide foundational support for program operations.
  • Propose research initiatives and implement inspiring strategies to address current and future challenges facing the SOMA\COMA\HP mission space while setting a clear vision and path for the section and prioritize section needs.
  • Interact with program management and customers to contribute technical concept, development, analysis and thought leadership for efforts within QPS while setting high technical standards and ensuring they are met.
  • Assist the group supervisor in the interviewing and hiring processes, onboarding, and by implementing APL supervisory policies and procedures within your section.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

 

  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Antenna Theory, RF Physics, Physics or another related technical field.
  • Have at least five years of relevant experience in RF modeling and Antenna Design.
  • Have experience successfully leading staff in solving complex problems.
  • Are able to mentor and develop staff members.
  • Are able to establish relationships and effectively interact with all levels of management, and external sponsors and across organization boundaries.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Hold an active Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

 

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Hold a Master's degree or PhD in Antenna Theory, RF Physics, Physics or another related field with at least ten years of relevant experience in Antenna Design and RF modeling and Simulation tools.
  • Have a consistent record of accomplishment in building a technically strong workforce and in developing future leaders.
  • Have a demonstrated ability in building technically strong, inquisitive, and diverse technical teams.
  • Have a consistent record of successful collaborations across APL sectors, government laboratories, and industry.
  • Have a proven track record of successful engagement with sponsors and the initiative and drive to seek challenging national problems.
  • Hold an active Top Secret clearance
