The Clinical Pharmacist I will work in the main pharmacy at Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego, serving central and downtown San Diego. With the longest tenured Level I Trauma Center in the county, the team at Mercy San Diego thrives in a fast-paced environment and prides itself in its efficiency and teamwork in providing comprehensive care.
Responsibilities include:
- Primarily operation focused centrally based; participates in direct patient care as clinical competencies are approved and on approved shifts.
- Documents the care provided to patients.
- Supervises the drug distribution operation: responsible for assuring safe and effective alternatives as appropriate.
- Contributes to the accomplishment of initiatives to improve the cost-effectiveness of drug therapy.
- Routinely communicates with physicians, nurses and patients regarding drug therapy.
- Demonstrates ability to provide age-specific patient care as established for area and job title.
- Demonstrates ability to perform competencies and prescription authorities as approved by the medical staff.
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
- BS Pharmacy or Pharm.D. Degree
Required Certification/Registration:
- California Pharmacist License
- AHA BLS
- ACLS certification required prior to being trained to respond to codes, can be obtained within 6 months of hire
Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
* PGY1 residency or 3 years' experience in relevant practice area.
