About the Role:

Responsible for leading the implementation of all sales training programs, including training aspects of annual Plan of Action (POA) cycle meetings such as National, Zone, and Regional meetings. Partners with senior commercial and divisional leadership, in addition to support teams, to elevate and deepen sales team knowledge, competencies, and behaviors that drive results. Designs, develops and implements initial and ongoing sales training and develops programs utilizing a blended learning strategy that supports the strategic goals of the Sales, Marketing and other cross-functional departments. The ideal candidate will live in the San Diego area and able to travel up to 50% of the time in support of training and field based meetings.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Leads the Sales Training Manager Team to be successful in their individual roles and their collective and collaborative teamwork, including coaching their performance and their professional growth and development
  • Selects, leads, develops, mentors and evaluates staff to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the function
  • Contributes to and drives the implementation of the Sales Training strategy
  • Oversees and executes the design, development and implementation of learning initiatives that support the Sales and Marketing organization, including disease state, product, selling resources, and messaging
  • Drives a high-impact sales training culture & curriculum through the assessment and development of sales capabilities for all sales teams and then tailored, as needed, for individual sales teams
  • Ensures all training content complies with NBI Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, and Medical requirements and reflects the highest standards of adult learning principles, conduct and compliance for the pharmaceutical industry
  • Oversees all training programs involving new hire training, recurrent training, and collaborates with the Field Development team on advanced training
  • Works closely and collaboratively with cross-functional leadership in the development and execution of brand initiatives along with all training programs to support the product, disease state, therapeutic area, and sales target type
  • Continuously explores alternative methods of delivering training and new approaches, practices and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of training (including distance-learning, e-learning, learning portals)
  • Manages and monitors detailed meetings and training budgets, control documents, vendors, learning management system curriculum, and financial data reports and analysis
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
  • BS/BA degree and 10+ years of experience in sales training and development or similar relevant experience OR

  • Master's degree and 8+ years years of years in sales training and development or similar relevant experience

  • Previous managerial / functional management experience also required

  • Progressive pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech or healthcare sales, sales training, and marketing knowledge

  • Advanced sales training and development knowledge, including building & executing a training curriculum from program concept development through rollout to sales organization

  • Strong experience and capabilities for developing & executing a successful Product Launch Training Program and annual Plan of Action (POA) Cycle Training Programs

  • Excellent knowledge and demonstrated implementation of adult learning concepts and methodologies

  • Hiring, developing and leading a high performing team

  • Strong knowledge of best practices and challenges of a high impact training and a high performing field sales organization

  • Strong, demonstrated self and people leadership capabilities and skills, including coaching and developing individuals and teams

  • Applies in-depth skills and knowledge of own function as well as business / commercial / scientific expertise to understand and solve critical issues successfully and innovatively

  • Evaluates key business / scientific challenges and completes complex, ambiguous initiatives having cross-functional impact

  • Excellent trust, relationship building skills and emotional intelligence

  • Ability to think through and implement creative, innovative training solutions with adult learning principles and multi-modal delivery approaches

  • Ability to effectively manage and execute priorities across the organization and adjust as needed, delegate appropriately, and diplomatically resolve conflicts that may arise

  • Highly motivated, passionate self-starter, analytical, detail-oriented and operationally-focused

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, proven excellent written and verbal/nonverbal communication skills, as well as presentation and facilitation, and influencing skills

  • Exceptional collaboration and influencing skills, including ability to take an independent stance when interfacing with cross functional stakeholders and ability to lead without authority (laterally and up)

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $165,100.00-$238,900.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 30% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
