Position Summary
Coordinates the operations of assigned Adult Education programming. Must be
committed to serving a diverse college community. Actively participates in and
contributes to continuous quality improvement.

This is a Fixed-Term position therefore continuous employment is contingent upon further position funding and/or need.

This position will have the opportunity to enjoy a hybrid work schedule as determined by the Director of Adult Education, combining both remote work and in-office presence, allowing for flexibility and work-life balance.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinates program operations with other department programs.
  • Plans and evaluates the structure and design of program classes or tutoring sessions
  • Oversees the development of curriculum and syllabi.
  • Facilitates and plans for faculty, volunteer tutor and staff professional development.
  • Defines and measures learning outcomes; organizes program components, including intake, orientation, instruction, and assessment.
  • Tracks student learning level increases and accomplishment of goals. Collaborates in departmental grant writing activities, departmental planning, and reporting, needs assessments, surveys, and state evaluations.
  • Serves on a variety of committees and task forces.
  • Reviews initial screenings on students for learning disabilities. Refers students for further diagnostic testing and placement. Advises students and instructors on individual educational plans and accommodations.
  • Provides direction and support to instructors in regard to students with special needs.
  • Reviews and orders appropriate classroom materials, software, and instructor resource materials.
  • Negotiates site agreements with off-site locations.
  • Manages off-site operations; recruits, initiates, and maintains new and existing community partnerships; produces and distributes departmental publicity materials.
  • Develops and maintains program websites.
  • Conducts ongoing public awareness and community outreach campaigns. Maintains program files and records.
  • Performs the duties of a Basic Literacy (BL) Coordinator for Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe/Adult Education BL tutoring program
  • Recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates volunteer tutors to provide basic literacy and numeracy tutoring to adults performing at or below the 6th grade level.
  • Provides expertise on best practices in adult literacy education, including knowledge of strategies for teaching students with learning differences or disabilities.
  • Reaches out to community partners and agencies to recruit students in need of basic literacy tutoring services.
  • Collaborates with SFCC Adult and Career Education (ACE) coordinator to recruit and offer complimentary and transitional services to students in need.
  • Works with LVSF Executive Director to research and write grant proposals to fund the non-profit literacy organization.
  • Writes quarterly, mid-year and annual reports for non-profit grant funders. Conducts annual surveys of students, tutors and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Literacy Volunteers of Santa Fe (LVSF) Board to implement program objectives including development planning, community outreach, and public relations efforts.
  • Develops new funding sources for non-profit; updates website manager and social media platforms to promote and market LVSF activities and events. Represents the literacy program at civic groups, on radio/TV programs, and at other public events.
  • Assists the LVSF Executive Director in preparing, recommending, and managing overall non-profit program budget and individual grant budgets.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations. Knowledge of academic and skills assessment methods.
  • Knowledge of student personnel administration.
  • Knowledge of recruitment, training and assessment techniques. Knowledge of curriculum development and design principles.
  • Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority.
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs. Skill in decision making and problem solving.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public. Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in the preparation and delivery of instructional materials. Ability to determine the needs of student clients.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • One (1) year experience related to duties.
  • Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with at-risk students, especially those with learning differences or disabilities.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Experience working with multicultural populations.
Physical Demands
  • The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently standing or walking. The employee occasionally lifts light objects.
  • The work is typically performed in an office.
Work Hours
  • Typically 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. May be required to work after hours and/or weekends.
